READING DIPLOMA - READING FOX

The libraries of the JoRaJuPuSu -area have designed a reading diploma for the first to sixth graders of the elementary school.

A student can perform a reading diploma every year by reading 1-3 books from six different groups. The groups are picture books, comic books, fairytales, domestic tales, foreign tales and poems.

The reading diploma is achieved by reading six books, one from each group. A reading virtuoso diploma is achieved by reading twelve books, two from each group, and the reading master diploma is achieved by reading eighteen books, three from each group.

The reading diplomas are called by names of different foxes: Lukukettunen for the first graders, Lukurepo for the second graders, Kirjakettu for the third graders, Hopeakettu for the fourth graders, Platinakettu for the fifth graders and Kettu Repolainen for the sixth graders.

If a student achieves a diploma, it will be marked on the spring report. The student is also given a certificate of honour. The literature diploma is carried out when all six reading diplomas are done and this is only possible to achieve on the sixth grade.

The goal of the reading diploma is to improve the reading hobby amongst the children and youngsters and the same time to produce new experiences, feelings and insights. By reading books you can improve your reading and vocabulary. Also by reading books you get a good general knowledge and learn about the culture of Finland and other countries.

The diploma books are presented in the library in every class groups. There is beside these books a book list and a short introduction of the books. All information of the reading diploma is found at the JoRaJuPuSu -areas libraries website.
